Food: Rabbits are herbivores. They need good quality hay or grass to help them stay healthy. They also enjoy leafy greens and pellets. And as a treat they eat root vegetables like carrots or fruit.

Size: There are many different types of rabbit and different sizes. They can be as small as 25cm to over a metre long. And can weigh over 20kg

Appearance: They have large, long ears. Their bodies are covered in fur, which can be short or long like hair, in different colours. They have powerful hind legs. Their front teeth are sharp and continue to grow all the time.

Rabbits make excellent pets. They are simple to look after with the right home. They do not like to be alone however, so should be kept with one or more other rabbits. They like to keep active and need a home with plenty of space and interesting objects to keep them stimulated. Rabbits also like to hide and will need a covered area to feel safe.

Consider rehoming a rescue animal. Many charities offer rehoming services such as: Blue Cross * Animal Rescue & Care * RSPCA
